Self-Care Menu

We used this menu during the year as the best kind of homework. Try a few for yourself!


SELF-CARE MENU

Self-care will look different depending on the person and their needs in that moment. Which part of yourself needs some extra care right now? Consider activities you might like to initiate that can help boost your physical, emotional, or mental health.


BODY

  • Wash your face

  • Spritz your face with cool water

  • Use lotion to moisturize your skin

  • Give yourself a manicure or pedicure

  • Take a long bubble bath

  • Brush your hair 100x

  • Wash your hair with a new shampoo scent

  • Stretch for 10 minutes

  • Dance to your favorite music

  • Rest your legs up on a wall

BREATH

  • Sit in a room with candles or a diffuser (with permission)

  • Take deep breaths

  • Do some yoga

  • Let out a deep sigh

SLEEP

  • Go to bed early

  • Do part of your morning routine the night before so you can sleep in later

  • Take a nap

  • Fluff your pillow

  • Make your bed

ENTERTAINMENT

  • Watch your favorite movie

  • Play a board game or card game

  • Learn a new skill

  • Read for fun

  • Play with a pet

  • Listen to music in the dark

  • Watch funny videos on the internet or TV

  • Watch cute animal videos on the internet or TV

NATURE

  • Take a walk outside

  • Water the plants in your house

  • Lay in the yard at night and look for stars

  • Sit under a tree

  • Watch the clouds

  • Smell the flowers

  • Fly a kite

CREATIVITY

  • Draw in a sketchbook

  • Write a poem

  • Play a musical instrument

  • Color in a coloring book

  • Make a vision board

  • Free-write

SOCIAL

  • Call someone you haven't spoken to in a while

  • Talk to a neighbor

  • Ask a parent to set aside one-on-one time with you

  • Spend time with a younger friend or relative

  • Give/get a hug

FOOD/DRINK

  • Play with your food

  • Eat a healthy snack

  • Eat a meal in silence

  • Cook or bake

  • Drink an extra tall glass of cold water

  • Sip on your favorite tasty soda or juice using a fun glass

POSITIVITY

  • Leave encouraging messages on sticky notes around the house

  • Look at old photos

  • Make a list of your favorite things

  • Clean and reorganize your room

  • Prepare a gift for someone
