What have we learned about resilience?

When asked about resilience, students had this to say:

"What is resilience? Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from hard and difficult times where you want to quit, for example falling off your bike, scraping your knee, getting up, then riding your bike again better this time. Now I am not saying try to scrape your knee or something I’m saying when those things occur like when you fall off accidentally. Being resilient helps you in the future it makes it like when you scrap your knee which is one of the many examples being resilient makes it so you don’t feel like “I messed up my life” or, “I’m not going to ever be able to do this.” And it will help you actually do that thing like riding your bike. Resilience is important, if we all do it it would make the world so much better, and nobody would have to think they “Messed Up” as much as before." - Declan

"Resilience is to be tough when times are rough. Like sometimes people cry but you're always supposed to be resilient. Sometimes people are mad at you or you're mad at them but you are always supposed to be resilient and the best part is you can help others be resilient too." - Grady

"The little rock nine are a really good example when it comes to what we’ve been learning. I’ve learned that resilience is something that can help you learn and grow. I’ve also learned that it is staying strong through rough times." - Bella

"I have learned that having resilience means knowing how to get through hard times. Also, that sometimes you have to know how to help other people when they are going through hard times, like asking if they want to talk about it or trying to get them to think about something else. So in all, people will never always be happy, so you have to know how to do your part in order to help." - Carolina

"To never give up and to keep striving for what you want. To keep on going and if you're stuck think it through. Also to be brave and you will always find a way." - Layla

"I have learned how to be resilient in tough times.I have also learned how to help others to be resilient in tough times. The final thing I learned is that life may be tough but if we help each other it gets easier." - Phoenix

"I have learned ways to be resilient in so many ways, and I know how to help others out when they're having a hard time and overall I came out a better person." - Sailor

"Resilience is when people are brave in hard times. Everyone has been through hard times. But we need to have resilience because we have to get through these hard times so that people won’t get worried about us." - Jordyn

"Resilience is when you are focused on something that is important and then you finish it but you have to do something else and that makes you feel mad and then you just need to focus on it and that is being resilient. Resilience is an important thing in life; it's all about focus and understanding what you're doing. This is very important and you need to listen to what your mind is telling you. This is also something you have to think about when you are doing it you can’t let your mind get you stuck on something else. " - Abigail

"When you're writing about resilience, it sort of inspires you to have resilience during a tough time." - Jack
